Sinéad passed away on July 26, 2023, with tributes pouring in for her both in the aftermath of her death three years ago, and annually on her anniversary.

With her anniversary occurring on Sunday, those near and dear to her have paid tribute since — with her close friend Imelda May sharing a heartbreaking picture of her and Sinéad, whom she said she "really f***ing misses."

"I really f***ing miss you sister," Imelda wrote alongside a pic of her and Sinéad at Shane MacGowan’s birthday. ‘Not just today but always.

"Rereading your texts and listening to voice notes doesn’t help but reminds me you’re just getting started and your voice is becoming more powerful than ever. People are only just hearing your truth ROAR!!!!!"

Imelda added that she’s grateful for getting closer to former Pogues frontman Shane’s widow, Victoria Mary Clarke, in the wake of Sinéad’s death, writing: "your passing brought many of our circle closer together, especially @VictoriaMaryClarke and I. Another thing I’m grateful to you for."

Imelda admitted that it had been hard without Sinéad in the immediate aftermath of her death, saying that not only she but Ireland were having a ‘tough time’ since her passing.

"It’s been a tough time and didn’t we all send Sinead off beautifully yesterday?" Imelda wrote on her Instagram after Sinéad’s funeral.

"We gave her loads of love we sang to the heavens for her all night. So I’m just throwing myself into this play, into art, into love. I hope you all have a great day."

A new wax figure of Sinéad was set to be unveiled by the National Wax Museum in Dublin ahead of the singer’s third anniversary.
