Leo Varadkar says stranger things have happened when asked about Conor McGregor's potential political career.
During his first St Patrick’s Day trip to the US as Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister), it seems that Leo Varadkar may have some competition on his hands from an unlikely source. TMZ Sport met with Varadkar at SXSW in Austin, Texas, where they asked him about the likelihood that Conor McGregor, probably Ireland’s most famous sports star, could carve out a future career in politics for himself.
“You never know, stranger things have happened,” Varadkar said.
“Just met Arnold Schwarzenegger,” he added, using the movie-star-turned-politician as a classic example of how an unlikely subject can go on to be a successful politician.
“Anything is possible.”

McGregor has not seriously mentioned swapping the cage for Leister House but he did say “why not,” when asked about it by TMZ Sport back in February.
“I know they’re shaking in their boots anyway,” he added.
The question came up after McGregor posted a cryptic message on social media asking how Ireland’s money was being spent.
“Now as I get older at 29 years of age, I find that I am becoming more and more interested in where much of the money in my home state has gone and where it actually goes when it comes in,” McGregor said.
“There are more and more things I see daily that do not add up.
“I see many things I do not like and I see many things that I feel can be easily amended under correct instruction. We shall see. Stay woke at all times, kids.”

As somebody who was once on the Dole (social welfare), we wonder what McGregor makes of Varadkar’s policies focusing on the people “who get up early in the morning.” The Taoiseach was heavily criticized for this comment during his leadership campaign, which some felt aligned himself with only a certain percentage of the country as opposed to making the lives of the whole population better.
