Floral baby names are always such a lovely choice for little girls and there’s plenty of beloved favourites to choose from (we’re looking at you Lily, Poppy and Rose!)
Found in almost every garden across Ireland, daisies are both a beautiful flower and an established name that has enjoyed lots of popularity over the past few decades here.
According to the CSO, it ranked in 42nd place with 109 babies given the name last year.
It goes without saying that Daisy is such a sweet pick for a baby girl! It evokes images of the equally as lovely flower that is associated with lazy sunny days making daisy chains in the garden and seeing them pop up all throughout the summer during our childhood and beyond.
Alternatively, if you’re looking for a homegrown pick, the Irish version of Daisy is a unique spin on the classic and is just as pretty!
Pronounced ‘no-neen’, Nóinín hasn’t yet reached the same level of popularity as it’s English language counterpart, but has been gradually rising in use in the past few years.
Ranking in at 556th with six baby Nóiníns born in 2024, the elegant name first appeared back in 2020 after being used four times and has remained on the charts since.
Perfect for parents-to-be on the quest for an Irish name that is unique and won’t be too commonly heard on the playground, we simply adore it!
