Indivisible Ireland and Democrats Abroad Ireland will be rallying in solidarity in Dublin with the "No Kings" protests set to take place around the world tomorrow, Saturday, June 14.

A solidarity "No Kings" protest will be staged at the US Embassy - located at 42 Elgin Road in Ballsbridge, Dublin - at 12 pm on Saturday, June 14.

"No Kings," organizers say, is "an international day of action and mass mobilization in response to increasing authoritarian excesses and corruption from Trump and his allies."

More than 1,800 "No Kings" events are planned to take place in the US and further afield on Saturday.

The "No Kings" protests will coincide with US President Donald Trump's planned military parade in Washington, DC on Saturday, which will mark the US Army's 250th birthday. Saturday is also Flag Day in the US, as well as Trump's 79th birthday.

NPR reports: "The massive military parade and festivities are expected to cost between $25 million and $45 million, according to Army spokesperson Heather J. Hagan.

"Part of the hefty bill could include millions just to repair DC streets, since tanks and other heavy armored vehicles tend to damage roads."

Trump defended the cost of the event during an appearance on "Meet the Press," saying that it's “peanuts compared to the value of doing it.”

Globally, the "No Kings" event is being coordinated by a network of Americans through Indivisible Abroad. The US-based Indivisible describes itself as "a movement of thousands of group leaders and more than a million members taking regular, iterative, and increasingly complex actions to resist the GOP's agenda, elect local champions, and fight for progressive policies."

Patti Shields, spokesperson for Indivisible Ireland, said ahead of Dublin's "No Kings" rally: “History has its eyes on us right now as we stand for Democracy and our equal rights protected by our Constitution.

"The American Democratic system was founded on checks and balances and designed by leaders who stood up to tyranny.

“We are speaking up and want the US to wake up on Saturday Morning and see us marching for the protections of Liberty and Freedom around the world."

Organizers note: "A core principle behind all 'No Kings' events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values."

They add: "All who stand for freedom, equality, and democracy are welcome."
