Kathleen Carey, aged in her 30s, was found seriously injured on the ground outside of an apartment block in Belmayne, Dublin 13, on Monday afternoon. She sadly passed away from her injuries in Beaumont Hospital on Wednesday.

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into Ms Carey’s death, which they are currently treating as an assault. A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with Ms Carey’s death, but was released without charge. A file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A GoFundMe has since been started to help pay for Ms Carey’s funeral expenses, which reads that her death came just weeks after her sister’s passing.

"We are asking for your help to support our family following the heartbreaking and unexpected loss for [sic] my aunty Kathleen Carey who sadly passed away from a tragic accident in Belmayne," the fundraiser read.

"We had to bury her loving sister two weeks beforehand."

The fundraiser described Kathleen as a "kind, loving, funny person who was full of life. She always made you smile… she was an amazing person who will be deeply missed."

The fundraiser is also said to help give Ms Carey, a young mother, "the best send off," and help support her daughter following the horrific incident.

Gardaí are continuing their investigation into Ms Carey’s death, and are currently establishing whether she was assaulted.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Belmayne, Dublin 13 between 3pm and 3.45pm on Monday, September 28, is urged to contact Gardaí.
