Without further ado…. the name is Séadna.
Also spelled Seadna or Seadhna, Séadna is a strong Irish name meaning ‘treasure’.
Pronounced ‘shay-nah,' this unique moniker is on the rise amongst parents in Ireland.
According to Ireland's Central Statistics Office (CSO), Seadna, without the fada, has appeared on Irish naming charts in 1984, 1995 and 2016.
A name needs to be used three or more times in order to be featured on Irish records, with Seadna being given to three babies in each of those years.
Séadna, with the fada, on the other hand, appeared for the first time in 2018, with four babies given the name that year.
Since then, it has gone from strength to strength, ranking in at the 348th spot in 2025 with 11 baby Séadnas born last year.
While it hasn’t reached the top favourites in terms of Irish names in Ireland, we’re sure it’s en route!
What do you think of the name Séadna? Do you know anyone with this name?
