WWE Raw coming to Dublin for the first time ever next year

It has been announced this morning that WWE Monday Night Raw is coming to Dublin for the first time ever next year.

In an appearance on Ireland AM, Irish WWE Superstars Finn Bálor and Becky Lynch were on the couch to confirm that Raw is coming to Dublin on Monday, January 25 at the 3Arena.

"Well, I can’t believe it," Lynch said on Ireland AM after announcing the show. "It’s amazing. It’s amazing, as a kid, we would have never dreamed [of this]."

It will be the first time the wrestling company’s flagship show will be brodcast from Dublin, and the second main roster show to be live from Dublin as well.

In August last year, WWE broadcast their first ever live show from Ireland when Friday Night Smackdown came to the 3Arena, marking John Cena’s last ever WWE appearance in Dublin as an in-ring competitor before he retired in December.

Since its inception in 1993, Monday Night Raw has been broadcast from 173 cities and 210 Arenas all across the world, from Japan to Belgium, France to Australia and the UK. Belfast also hosted the show at the SSE Arena back in January, which saw Bálor unsuccessfully fight for the World Heavyweight Championship against CM Punk.

There’s been rumours this year of Dublin becoming a potential host city for Wrestlemania, with WWE hosting their first-ever Mania outside of North America next year when it goes to Saudi Arabia.

A Kilkenny councillor Maurice Shortall said that Ireland "is well placed to present a credible and competitive bid for WrestleMania, given our strong international tourism brand, proven track record in hosting major events, and global reputation as a welcoming destination."

Both Bálor and Lynch plan to appear on Off The Ball on Friday night as well, potentially with a further announcement.
