Time and time again, the Brits try to claim Saoirse Ronan as one of their own.
Harper’s Bazaar caused the first “forgetting the Irish aren’t British” controversy of 2019 by appearing to claim Irish actress Saoirse Ronan as one of “The spirit of Great Britain.”
The British magazine’s upcoming February edition features an interview with the New York-born, Irish-raised star which celebrates her leading role in “Mary Queen of Scots.” The cover’s main text, however, references “The spirit of Great Britain” which while referring another article entirely, does seem to cast the cover star as being one of their own.

Of course, Irish Twitter quickly got itself worked up to remind Harper’s Bazaar just exactly where Ronan hails from:

In better news, Ronan may not have picked up a Golden Globe nomination but she was announced as an award host for the 2019 event.
