The Masters is just around the corner, and in the lead-up to it, a documentary will be released showcasing Rory McIlroy’s dramatic win in Augusta last year.
The Holywood man finally got his hands on the Green Jacket after 10 years without a major title after winning a dramatic play-off hole against Englishman and Ryder Cup teammate Justin Rose.
It was the last tournament McIlroy had to win to complete the career Grand Slam, something only five other golfers had done in history before him.
He’s now fully cemented himself as an all-time great in the sport and is one of the greatest athletes ever to come from Ireland. His journey will be documented in the newest Amazon Prime Video documentary, Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait.
Amazon MGM Studios announced that a feature-length documentary on the highs and lows of McIlroy’s career will be released on March 30, just under a fortnight before he is set to defend his Green Jacket at Augusta.

‘There are rare moments in sport when time seems to collapse—when years of heartbreak and longing compress into a single breath.’ Amazon MGM Studios said in a press release announcing the film. ‘For Rory McIlroy, that moment came on No. 18 green at Augusta National Golf Club in April of 2025.
‘After a gripping playoff with Justin Rose, the final putt dropped, and Rory fell to his knees, gasping as though he had been holding his breath for fourteen years.’
‘Rory McIlroy: The Masters Wait captures that moment and unpacks the relentless pressure, devastating failures, and unwavering determination that made his triumph so profound—the story of a prodigy who became a champion, was knocked down year after year, and rebuilt himself into one of sport’s most resilient figures.’
The film is produced by Everyone Else, the production company founded by Dan Lindsay and TJ Martin, who were behind the Oscar-winning ‘Undefeated’ sports documentary in 2011, and who have also produced the acclaimed Earnhardt TV series. The film will be directed by Drea Cooper.
