The star, who famously played the troubled teen, Marissa Cooper, in the noughties show, "The OC," is jumping from TV to the stage and is excited about taking on this role.

Running in the Gaiety Theatre from March Tuesday 24 to Saturday 28, Mischa defines the play in three words: Lust, Greed, and Betrayal.

The play is an adaptation of the movie of the same name that starred Barbara Stanwyck, back in 1944.

The story focuses on an insurance salesman, Walter Neff, who finds himself besotted with Phyllis Dietrichson and soon finds himself in the midst of a murderous scheme.

Phyllis, who will be played by Mischa, is plotting to kill her husband to cash in on his death. With Walter's heart ruling over his head, he begins to see the true character that is Phyllis Dietrichson.

Looking forward to performing, she said, "I'm so excited, it's a great piece of work and from the James Caine novel to the movie, obviously in which Barbara Stanwyck played my original character.

"But she's a femme fatale, and she's just a great character, and you can have a lot of fun with a piece like this."

The actress has always had a strong connection with Ireland. Featuring on the "Late Late Show" on Friday night, the star said, "It's funny. Whenever I'm doing a play here [in Ireland], sometimes when I go to the stage door I'll randomly see somebody who's like, 'Oh, I'm related to you,' or 'I know your mum,' and it's very sweet."

With cousins in Roscommon, Mischa has admitted that she loves to spend time with them and loves to jump into the car and head to Donegal.

So keep an eye out in March, you may just bump into her!
