Malcolm James McCormick, more commonly known by his stage name Mac Miller, died following recent trouble with substance abuse. 

American music star Mac Miller, a former boyfriend of US singer Ariana Grande, has died of an apparent overdose, aged 26. 

The rapper, whose real name was Malcolm James McCormick, had experienced recent trouble with substance abuse, TMZ reports

He was due to go on tour next month with his latest album "Swimming," which was released on August 3. 

Miller had previously explored his Irish roots in the second season premiere of his reality show, "Mac Miller and the Most Dope Family," bringing his crew on a trip to Ireland as the opening act for Lil Wayne’s tour.  

After exploring the country, he could be seen jumping about some Irish traditional musicians with his acoustic guitar.
