Keegan had massive success on the big screen last year, with the movie of her best-selling book "Small Things Like These", starring Cillian Murphy.
It’s reported that Cork-born director John Crowley, who directed the hit movie "Brooklyn", starring Saoirse Ronan, is in discussions to direct the film in Ireland.
The movie script for "Walk the Blue Fields" is written by Conor McPherson, who himself is a multiple Tony Award-nominated screenwriter and playwright.

But what is it all about? "Walk the Blue Fields" follows a young woman on her wedding day, as she faces a heartbreaking decision when a person from her past threatens to be revealed.
Emily Blunt will produce the movie through her company Ledbury Productions.

In a statement, Blunt said ”I’m so deeply excited to embark on bringing Claire Keegan’s aching and electric short story to life as a movie.
‘I’m grateful to this creative team who have made the development of it thus far so magical’.
Production is expected to commence towards the end of this year, or at the latest, in the beginning of 2026.
