"House of Guinness" which chronicles the rise of the family behind the country’s most famous stout, premiered in Dublin on Thursday evening (September 18) ahead of its wider release on Netflix next week — with a stellar lineup, including Anthony Boyle as the big cheese, Arthur Guinness.
Speaking to Extra.ie at the premiere on Thursday, Anthony spoke about a potential soundtrack to the life of Arthur Guinness — with the Belfast man looking close to home, saying that he’d have the west Belfast rap trio Kneecap as the artists to provide the score to Arthur’s journey.
"We’ve got a lot of Kneecap in the show, so maybe some Kneecap [as the soundtrack to his life]," Anthony said.
"Arthur’s got a lot of energy, and yeah, he’s a bit of a punk. They’d be good."
Spanning 19th-century Dublin and New York, the story of the Guinness family dynasty — and its brewery — opens up in the immediate aftermath of the death of Arthur Guinness’ father, Sir Benjamin Guinness.
It follows the dramatic fate of his four adult children—Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben—while also painting a portrait of the Dubliners whose lives were intertwined with the phenomenon of Guinness.
Created and written by Steven Knight, the series promises to blend sweeping family drama with the intrigue, politics, and ambition that defined the era.
Thursday’s premiere offered a first glimpse at the scale of the production, which was brought to life by Kudos and Nebulastar with direction from Tom Shankland and Mounia Akl.
Anthony Boyle takes on the role of Arthur Guinness alongside Louis Partridge as Edward Guinness and Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin Guinness, while James Norton brings to life Sean Rafferty. They are joined by Dervla Kirwan as Aunt Agnes Guinness, Niamh McCormack as Ellen Cochrane, Danielle Galligan as Lady Olivia Hedges, Seamus O’Hara as Patrick Cochrane, Michael McElhatton as John Potter, and Hilda Fay as Sultan.

On the red carpet, Steven Knight shared his hopes for the series, telling Extra.ie ‘"I hope they’ll [audiences] be gripped and that they’ll be hoping for more and that you know these people, who were real people who are being portrayed, that their story goes on and the story of the family goes on, all the way to the now.
"’God, I mean, this cast, it’s basically a new generation of young Irish and English actors, who absolutely execute this thing in the best possible way."
