Dublin, Ohio is offering free pints of beer to any native of Dublin, Ireland who makes the 3,566-mile trek for St. Patrick's Day.
In a bid to attract visitors from "the Other Dublin", the Ohio city is extending the offer to all Dubliners who travel from Ireland between March 8 and 18.
While in town, Irish Dubliners will be able to enjoy the city's Celtic Cocktail Trail, a St. Paddy's Day Pub Crawl on March 18, and the city's famous St. Patrick's Day Parade, which is due to take place on March 9 this year.
Sara Blatnik, Marketing Director of the Visit Dublin tourism board, said the city is looking forward to showing off its midwestern hospitality.
"We’re proud to share a name, and we’d love to share a pint…or a few!" Blatnik said in a statement.
"There are a lot of great cities in the U.S. to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and we think we’re one of the best. We’re ready to show off our Midwestern hospitality to our other Dublin friends.
"We’re super excited to celebrate some fresh faces in our city," Blatnik added.
"Dublin values inclusivity, cultural exchange, and international partnerships and holds a Friendship City designation with Dublin, Ireland."
The Dublin, Ohio tourism board additionally hopes that a new direct Aer Lingus flight between Dublin, Ireland, and Cleveland, Ohio will help foster cross-cultural connections between the two Dublins.
Starting February 12, natives of Dublin, Ireland will begin seeing cheeky billboards and digital advertisements inviting them to jet off across the pond and enjoy a pint in Ohio.
The St, Patrick's Day festival returned to Dublin, Ohio in 2023 after three years of Covid-19 and weather cancelations.
More than 100 groups participated in the parade last year, which featured giant floats, marching bands, bagpipers, and leprechauns.
