Northern Lights at Malin HeadRónán McLaughlin

We may not be looking forward the long, dark, dreary winter nights, but there’s no denying that they do have certain benefits, such as the perfect opportunity to see the Northern Lights shine through Irish skies.

Malin Head, Co. Donegal (the most northerly point in Ireland), is pictured here with the Northern Lights in all their blazing glory, lighting the way to the starting point of the Wild Atlantic Way. This rare sighting, unique to this part of Ireland, was captured thanks to the clear winter sky, and the lack of light pollution in the area, and is set off by the dramatic landscapes around Inishowen.
