Michael D Higgins has left Áras an Uachtaráin after 14 years at the helm, with Connolly taking his place in Phoenix Park.
The 68-year-old has pledged to be an "inclusive" president, as well as one who "listens and reflects and speaks when it’s necessary".
Higgins was a popular president and Connolly looks to follow suit after her landslide victory in last month’s election.
Connolly’s inauguration ceremony will get underway at 12pm in Dublin Castle.
St Patrick’s Hall in the castle is where the Galway native will officially be signed into office.
The richly decorated reception room is one of the most storied salons in the entire country and is no stranger to pomp and ceremony.

Like her predecessors before her, Connolly will be driven with an escort to Dublin Castle on Tuesday morning and into the cobbled Upper Yard for her inauguration.
Ahead of her arrival, invited guests from around Ireland will be seated in the hall.
Among them will be the Taoiseach, Tanáiste, members of the Government and Opposition, as well as members of the judiciary and guests representing a cross-section of Irish society.

Following some musical performances, as well as a few prayers and reflections, the full inauguration will get underway.
A declaration will be read by Ireland’s Chief Justice Donal O’Donnell and repeated by Connolly, who has elected to read it in Irish.
She will then sign the declaration and officially be declared President of Ireland.
There will be live coverage of the inauguration ceremony in Dublin Castle on RTE One television and the News Channel from 11.15am.
An extended News at One on RTE Radio 1 begins at 11.45am.

Once the formalities in Dublin Castle have concluded, Connolly and her husband will then travel by car to Áras an Uachtaráin.
On this first official journey as Uachtarán na hÉireann, she will be accompanied by motorcyclists from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron.
Later in the evening, she will return to Dublin Castle for a State Reception in her honour.
