The Dublin native, who is currently trying to get his name onto the Presidential Election ballot, has been out of the Octagon since 2021 after he broke his leg in his third contest against Dustin Poirier.
The fighter has long spoken about his comeback, with the latest plans appearing to be at a White House event in 2026, which he says he is ‘definitely’ going to be in.
Speaking to journalist Adam Glyn about his return to the UFC, McGregor said he was ‘ecstatic.’
‘The Mac is back,’ he stated, ‘and what better event than to grace the White House lawn for a straightener, what I do best.
‘I’m very, very excited. Very eager. Very motivated. Bring it on, baby.’

The post was met with much backlash with many slamming the businessman for backing McGregor, who was earlier this year found libel of the rape of Nikita Hand.
Elsewhere, responders wondered why Musk was getting involved in Irish politics, with one asking: ‘Why are you inserting yourself into the politics of so many countries you have no meaningful ties to?’
