Shauntelle Tynan returns to Ireland after cancer treatment in Texas

Irish teenager Shauntelle Tynan is back home in Co Carlow, Ireland after a successful cancer treatment in Texas.

After being diagnosed with the rare form of cancer Histiocytosis X in 2015, Tynan underwent five failed treatments before launching a crowdfunding effort to get to Texas for a new trial.

Her appeal went viral and after surpassing her initial fundraising goal in 2016, Tynan and her family moved to Houston, Texas in February 2017 so she could undergo treatment at Texas Children’s Hospital.

In August of this year, Tynan was finally declared cancer-free.

“It’s just an amazing moment," Tynan said in a video shared on her YouTube page.

Last week, Tynan shared a photo of her with her mother and Dr. McClain at what was the Irish teenager’s last doctor’s appointment for the time being.

On Tuesday, Tynan shared a public Facebook post of her family’s sixteen suitcases all packed and ready to go for her homeward bound journey.

Congrats, Shauntelle!
