Famed TV chef and author Anthony Bourdain was found dead in his French hotel room on Friday morning aged 61.
Anthony Bourdain, popular TV chef and author, has been found dead aged 61, CNN confirmed. It is believed he was found unresponsive in his hotel room in France on Friday morning by his close friend Eric Ripert. Bourdain had been in the country to film part of his show “Parts Unknown.”
"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," CNN said in a statement, reporting that the death was an apparent suicide.
"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller.

The 61-year-old was best-known for TV shows "A Cook's Tour," "The Layover," CNN's "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown," and "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations," an episode of which was filmed in Ireland.
On season three of the show, Bourdain traveled to the Emerald Isle to dispel the myth that we are the country with “the worst food on the planet.”
