A new San Francisco-based clothing line is getting backlash for their questionable choice of brand name; IRA Apparel, which stands for Impact Reduction Apparel, specializes in safety clothing for skateboarders.

In the last few days the brand has been attracting much attention on Twitter because of their adversiting hashtags like #IRA, #IRAstreetteam and #IRAapparel, which have resulted in global head-shaking and questions, like: really? why?

They’ve stuck to their guns, though, and have just tweeted about their non-affiliation with the Irish Republican Army in response to the criticism and mockery:
