A statement from band members Grian Chatten, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan, Tom Coll and Carlos O’Connell confirmed the devastating news.

Taking to social media earlier in the week, the "Favourite" singers paid tribute to the late Trevor and urged fans for privacy.

They wrote: "We are utterly heartbroken to let you know that on Sunday June 7th we lost our dear friend and manager Trevor.

"Trevor was beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines D.C. without him, the sixth member of the band. He cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world. He was fearless in his beliefs We will miss him always.

"We ask that you kindly respect our privacy and that of his family as this terribly difficult time. RIP Trev."

Social media users took to the comments with messages of condolences.

RTÉ broadcaster Tracy Clifford wrote: "Sending you and Trev’s family strength and love. Truly devastating news."

CMAT added: "He was such a lovely lovely man, I’m so sorry to hear about this."

 Inhaler added: "Really sorry for your loss. Rest in peace Trev."

Fontaines D.C. met while they were attending music college at BIMM in Dublin’s The Liberties.

Trevor was a booker and promoter and booked the band to play at Workman’s on a number of occasions.

In 2016, he took on the role of manager for the band, and saw the group climb to international level.

Since then band has had a number of accolades and achievements, including a number of Grammy nominations.
