The Limerick band have dug into studio archives for a 40-track reissue of their second album, 1994’s "No Need To Argue", which included their biggest hit, "Zombie", as one of its singles.

They are also preparing to play at Electric Picnic in Co. Laois at the end of the month.

Of the "No Need To Argue" outtakes, Mr Lawler told the i newspaper: "Dolores is speaking in between takes. And it was hard. There’s a lot of fond memories from that time. But I maybe didn’t expect that to be as difficult as it was."

The 30th anniversary edition of the multimillion-selling album was released in June of this year with demos and live versions alongside the original tracks.

The band had been working on their first new project in six years at the time of Dolores’s sudden death in 2018, when she drowned in a hotel bath in London due to alcohol intoxication.

The Cranberries finished their last album, In the End, in the weeks after Ms O’Riordan’s death and it was released in 2019, including her final vocal recordings and demos.

"When we finished up at the end of the day, we were looking down the hall, almost expecting her to walk in," Mr Lawler said.

Electric Picnic is on in Stradbally, from Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31.
