Aran Islands ferry passengers got more of an adventure than they expected on their trip to the islands.Instagram/issiegintert
One of the passengers on the boat shared the footage on Instagram, documenting the rough conditions near the islands in recent days.
The video shows three young men wrestling with the door of the below-deck seating area, as seawater crashes through and soaks them all.
The water also appears to hit some passengers sitting in the front row.
While the passenger who shared the clip reported that many of those on board were hit with seasickness, laughter can be heard and seen after the door is finally closed.
They wrote: "So this happened on the ferry boat ride out to the islands. Not only did everyone get seasick (myself included) but some lucky passengers got an ocean bath. Definitely a trip to remember!"
Galway Tourism also shared the video, adding: "Sometimes the journey to the Aran Islands is an adventure in itself!"
Many other social media users saw the funny side of the chaos, though some expressed sympathy with those on board.
One Instagram user wrote: "Lol the crew is trying. Glad it seems everyone for the most part had a good attitude about it. The ocean/sea sometimes makes the decision for you."
Another shared: "This definitely not AI. I was sitting third row back on the side that got the 'wave'. Worst boat ride of my life."
A third added: "At least everyone was laughing rather than being scared. Could have been stressful but they decided to make it a funny memory."
Yet another commented: "Poor guy on his holidays nearly drowned to death."
