Could Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby have an Irish name?

While James, Albert, and Victoria might be more likely what about the Irish American Duchess opting for “Liam Windsor?” We can hope!

The news that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have welcomed their first child, a baby boy, is being celebrated around the world.

Of course, bets are already on for what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will call their first-born child. Here at IrishCentral we could help but hope that the Royal couple might choose an Irish name for their baby, giving Markle’s Irish roots and the fact that the couple visited Dublin in July 2018, just two months after their wedding. However, it seems unlikely given the strict traditions attached to Royal names.

So far Coral bookmakers’ favorites are James or Victoria. Ladbrokes bookmakers are reporting that Victoria and Alice are early favorites for girls while Albert, Arthur, and Philip are top picks if it’s a boy.

Perhaps, given that Markle is from the United States she might go with a popular American name. Right now, the most popular name for boys in the USA is Liam (hello Liam Windsor!) or for a girl it’s Emma. In the UK the top name in 2017 for boys was Oliver and for a girl Olivia.
