Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be for Ireland on the night, with the boys in Green losing after a late goal in the 91st minute from Ruben Neves.
As all three points go to the host team, former goalkeeper Shay Given was less than impressed as he hit out at referee Ivan Kružliak.
The Donegal man claimed that "every decision" went Portugal’s way on the night, revealing he was "absolutely gutted for the lads."

Shay branded the penalty given to Portugal an "absolute disgrace" and said VAR should have overruled the referee’s decision.
He said: "To concede in injury time is a kick in the teeth for everyone. It was night and day in terms of performance level compared to the Armenia game… I felt they deserved a point, they really did."
The team’s attention now turns to Tuesday, where they will meet Armenia once again in hopes of turning it around for themselves.
The match takes place in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium as Ireland travels to Armenia for their first clash.
