We’re always on the lookout for fresh naming inspiration and we’ve recently come across one gorgeous Irish name out there that deserves its time in the spotlight.
Figuring out the perfect name for your little bundle of joy is no mean feat, and can end in hours spent trawling through naming sites, baby books and social media for inspiration.
It can help if you can narrow down what it is you want from a name. Does it feel best for it to have a family connection? Are you prioritising the meaning behind the name? Or how popular or unique it is? Would you prefer something with Irish origins?
While we’ll always have a soft spot for the classics (Aoife, Séan, Liam, we’re looking at you!), parents looking for something truly unique that won’t be commonly heard of on the playground, this Irish pick is perfect for you!
Irish names are beloved across the globe, and for good reason too! They often boast beautiful meanings, have deep ties to Irish culture, and have an unmatched lyrical quality which makes them an ideal choice for prospective parents.
This baby boy’s name certainly ticks all those boxes.
Without further ado, the name is Cairbre.
Irish boxer Séan McComb and his wife Dearbhlá Madden McComb, who recently welcomed a daughter named Cuisle, chose the name for their little baby boy back in 2021 – how lovely is that?
Pronounced car-bruh, Cairbre means ‘chariot rider’ and is a very rare name too as there are no records of it being used in Ireland, according to the Central Statistics Office.
In order for the name to appear on national charts, it needs to be used three or more times, and with Ireland’s naming records dating back to 1964, Cairbre has surprisingly never made the cut.
What do you think of the name Caribre? Do you know anyone with this name?
