Ireland's Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny will travel to New York today at the invitation of the United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to attend a Leaders’ Summit on Climate Change, which will be attended by over 120 heads of state and government.

During his address at the Summit, Kenny will use the opportunity to emphasize Ireland's commitment to playing its part in tackling climate change and the country's strong track record in the area, including its standing as a world leader in carbon efficient agriculture and food production.

While in New York, Kenny will also attend a reception hosted by President Obama for heads of delegations to the UN meetings. He will participate in events with representatives of the American Ireland Fund and young Irish business people living and working in New York.

From New York, the Taoiseach will travel to Rhode Island where he will meet with Governor Lincoln Chaffee and senior public representatives, including Senators and Congressmen, speak at an event to promote trade and investment links between Ireland and Rhode Island and meet representatives of the Irish community at an Irish Famine memorial.
