An Garda Síochána has issued an appeal for information upon the 31st anniversary of the murder and disappearance of Irish American woman Annie McCarrick.
The murder and disappearance of 26-year-old McCarrick on March 26, 1993, is "a tragedy that continues to deeply affect her loved ones and the wider community," An Garda Síochána said on March 25.
"As we commemorate the 31st anniversary of Annie's disappearance, An Garda Síochána remains committed to uncovering the truth and progressing this investigation," the Irish police force said on Monday.
"Gardaí are renewing their appeal to the public for any information that may shed light on Annie's disappearance and murder.
"Individuals who may have interacted with Annie on or after March 26, 1993, are urged to come forward and assist in the investigation.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact the investigation team at Irishtown Garda Station at 01 6669600, their local Garda Station, or the Garda Confidential line at 1800 666 111."

The renewed appeal for information ahead of the 31st anniversary of McCarrick's disappearance comes a year after An Garda Síochána confirmed that its missing person investigation had been reclassified as a murder investigation.
Meanwhile, The Irish Times reported on March 23 that a photograph of McCarrick – originally thought to be the last confirmed image of her on the day she disappeared, March 26, 1993 – was actually taken 11 days earlier.
The Garda Press Office confirmed to The Irish Times that the original date given for the CCTV image was incorrect and that it was, in fact, taken on March 15, 1993.
However, the Garda team is confident the bag McCarrick had in the image was the bag she had on the day she went missing.

Gardaí said in their statement on Monday that New York native McCarrick settled in Sandymount, Dublin 4, in January 1993, and worked as a waitress at the Courtyard Restaurant in Donnybrook and Café Java in Leeson Street.
Her last confirmed activity was on March 26, 1993, when she purchased groceries in Quinnsworth on Sandymount Road in Dublin. The groceries were found left unpacked in shopping bags in her apartment; a receipt in the bags confirms the date and time of purchase as 26/03/1993 11:02 am.

McCarrick is described as 5'8" in height, 10 stone, with long brown hair. She spoke with a soft Irish American accent.
When she disappeared, it is believed she was in possession of a large brown leather bag.
