Royal Merchant Ship (RMS) Titanic! Built by Irishmen. Sunk by an Englishman. Motif on a teashirt in Carroll's Irish giftstore in loyalist area of Belfast. Though only sunk because of White Star Line executives breathing down his neck to break all previous speeds to the new world. What cost productivity?
I think this was the "Luck of the Irish" to have this note found at all. My wife and I were on a bus tour from Albany,New York going through Nova Scotia, canada, when unbeknonst to us we were taken to a Cemetary where a lot of those who died on this ship. Looking at one Tomb stone of one of many my wilfe spotted a name on one that read "John Chapman" Her fathers name. He was no relation, but still strange! F. Gallagher
My guess is that he tossed the bottle very shortly after leaving Ireland, not from the deck of a sinking ship days later and hundreds of miles out at sea. He wrote the note thinking he was going to America, not to Heaven!
