Jim Carrey’s girlfriend, Cathriona White, who committed suicide last month, was married to another man, the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office has reported.

“She had a husband and they were separated,” Ed Winters with the Medical Examiner’s office told Us Weekly. “He is the legal next of kin.”

Winters said White, from Tipperary, who was a makeup artist, had been separated from her husband for five months, but he remains her next of kin. White had planned to divorce him. Carrey and White had been an item for years, breaking up on Sep 24, shortly before she took an overdose.

“As far as Jim was concerned, Cathriona was separated,” a source told Us.

“She was going to start divorce proceedings in December. There is no way that Jim Carrey would have taken her out to public places if he thought she was married.”

The coroner’s office also confirmed to the magazine that several different prescription pill bottles were found next to White’s body.

"There were four bottles found, three of them with a name on it and they weren’t hers,” the coroner’s office explained.

"We confirmed with the pharmacy it was an alias [for Carrey]…The prescriptions found were Ambien, Percocet, Propranolol and Zofran. [They were all in the name of Jim’s alias] except for the Zofran, there was no name on the [Zofran] bottle."

According to another source, White took the pills unbeknownst to Carrey.

"Jim didn’t even realize until a couple days later because it’s not something that he took on a regular basis," the insider told Us.

The coroner’s office also previously confirmed that a suicide note with Carrey’s name on it was found by her body. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled," Carrey told the media last Tuesday.
