An Irish Internet gamer known as Jacksepticeye has hit the big time.

Athlone native Sean McLoughlin, better known to his fans by his online alias, has been named as one of the ten best-paid YouTubers in the world.

The Westmeath man was ranked eight on the list after he made $15.9m (€14m) last year alone.

The 28-year-old vlogger has attracted a whopping 21 million subscribers due to his gaming commentary and humorous sketches. His most popular output is his regular series, "Let's Play."

To date, his YouTube channel has over ten billion views - no doubt contributing to the amount of money he generates from ad revenue.

The unassuming Internet star was also named as one of Ireland's top 30 earners aged under 30.

McLoughlin has a clothing line called Cloak with fellow gamer Markiplier which has been a great success amongst the gaming community.

According to the Westmeath Independent, McLoughlin moved to Brighton in 2017, with plans to work with a voice coach and an acting coach.

His profile online has led him to appearances in front of thousands of fans at video game conferences in the US and beyond. Last year, he even hosted the SXSW Gaming Awards in Austin, Texas.

“I'm way busier than I've ever been but I'm doing something I have such an incredible passion for that I enjoy being that busy,” he recently told the paper.

“I have had a lot of opportunities open up for me and it's very humbling to hear stories from people who watch my content.”
