What is Keem Beach?

Nestled at the western tip of Achill Island, Keem Beach is a crescent-shaped beach framed by the towering cliffs of Benmore and Croaghaun Mountain. Its nearly white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters evoke the allure of tropical paradises, yet it remains a tranquil haven untouched by large-scale development.

The beach's remote location, accessible via a winding cliff-top road, adds to its charm and sense of seclusion.

Keem Beach is not only visually stunning but also rich in biodiversity. The surrounding cliffs are home to various bird species, including puffins and razorbills, making it a popular spot for birdwatching. The bay's clear waters attract swimmers, snorkelers, and kayakers, with the chance to spot dolphins and even basking sharks during the summer months.

Adding to its allure, Keem Beach served as a filming location for the Oscar-nominated film "The Banshees of Inisherin," where it portrayed the home of Brendan Gleeson's character, Colm Doherty. This cinematic connection has further elevated the bay's profile among both tourists and film enthusiasts.
