Should the Dublin-born cricketer Eoin Morgan be made to sing the English national anthem at the World Cup?Getty
CNN host Piers Morgan sparked a debate on Twitter after calling out Dublin-born Eoin Morgan (no relation), the Captain of the English cricket team, who declines to sing “God Save the Queen,” England's national anthem, as part of his role.
Piers, whose father is from Offaly, tweeted:
And if you want to captain England, @Eoin16 - then sing the damn national anthem, too.

I'm Irish, but if I made myself available to play for England at any sport, I'd sing the English national anthem. End.

This is the Irish cricketer’s first World Cup as captain of the English team and it didn’t go well on Friday as the English were thoroughly beaten by the host nation, New Zealand, in Wellington.
