As depth of betrayal sinks in, followers of Al Gore feel confused and misled

Al Gore

In the history of mankind there are countless instances of cult figures who have lead their followers to ruin and disillusionment. Names like Jim Jones, David Koresh, The Pied Piper, Bernie Madoff, Adolph Hitler, Charles Manson, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh and a whole host of TV evangelists have done their damage.

It was easy for those outside and not sucked in by these hucksters to see the message they peddled defied logic, science and the laws of economics: Alchemy, master race, buy your way into heaven, getting something for nothing, all have that common thread.

But the lard used to hold it all together is usually tinged with a sort of religious fervor, transferred to that central figure, giving them cult like central power. It is a common thread that overcomes the doubt to accept a belief, no matter how self destructive, or outrageous it is.

In a sort of herd mentality, anyone that dares to question their core beliefs is immediately attacked and marginalized; labeled a “denier,” or a scientific/economic “blasphemer.”

But these cults have not only lead their followers to death, destruction, financial and spiritual ruin; many of them have brought those repercussions to the rest of society.

Former vice president, Al Gore, is a prime example of a modern day cult figure to his followers. His warning against man caused global warming, causing ice caps to melt, catastrophic storms, to wipe us out and cause mass extinctions, is all based on the burning of fossil fuels to power our civilization.

Followers/True Believes of Mr. Gore, burn with religious fervor as they recite historic temperature variations & green house gas concentrations, proving the earth is headed towards certain destruction due to the burning of fossil fuels. We must repent now!

But all the while, Mr. Gore was making hundreds of millions from his “work” and many of the green movements/companies that get government funding, have Mr. Gore’s fingerprints on them somewhere.

But crushingly, Gores followers are starting to realize Mr. Gores feet are made of clay. He sold his failing "Current" cable-television station for about $500 million, which he personally gets 100 million, to the anti-American Al-Jazeera media company…which is owned by the fossil-fuel-rich royal family of Qatar.

Gore rushed to close the deal before the first of the year to avoid the very capital-gains tax hikes that he has advocated for others less well off.

In one fell swoop Mr. Gore has enhanced a fossil-fuel consortium, attempted to beat tax hikes he has advocated that others should pay and empowered an anti-American/anti-Semitic media conglomerate.

The blatant hypocrisy & betrayal to the cause has not been lost on his followers who have expressed shock and bewilderment that their titular leader of the “green movement” sold them out for 100 million pieces of silver.

Employees of Current TV, have been quoted as saying, according to Fox News:

“He has no credibility. He’s supposed to be the face of clean energy and just sold [the channel] to very big oil, the emir of Qatar! Current never even took big oil advertising—and Al Gore, that bulls---ter sells to the emir?”

The displeasure with Gore among the staff was thick enough to cut with a scimitar.

“We all know now that Al Gore is nothing but a bulls---ter,” said one staffer bluntly. “Al was always lecturing us about green. He kept his word about green all right—as in cold, hard cash!”

All of this from a former vice president who crusades for ending our reliance on fossil fuels and for raising taxes on the wealthy.

Let’s hope this cult story doesn’t end badly for the rest of us.

Ha. The latest evidence clearly shows that the whole global warming issue is a con dreamed up to make money for a number of big energy companies and has been very successful - for them.

I voted for Gore but I didn't do that because he thought that Global Warming was the most awful thing facing America and the world. I didn't like my other option!. Global Warming is happening but as someone commented, the world has changed drastically over the centuries well before SUVs were present and they will continue to change. What we have to do is learn how to adjust our lives to these changes. We cannot do any environmental changes without the help of the other nations of the world. Maybe we should try to warm up to the rest of the world and have them warm up to us. Keeping an open mind would be nice. A little less hatred, greed and destruction would go a long way to helping the world adjust to the climate changes. I feel that Gore has the right to sell his company to whomever he wishes but selling to an oil conglomerate was unethical. He looks like a hypocrit. I don't necessarily see Al-Jezeera as an anti-american company but just a company with a different viewpoint. People have the right to NOT watch Al-Jezeera. Let's hope he uses the money to help the environment. I can understand his followers' disappointment.

maureenhawkins-Respectfully, you are correct in pointing out that moral excellence is not a barometer of scientific truth, but, as a leading spokesman for the green movement, Mr. Gore's total loss of credibility on the issue does weaken your position.

Death valley was once an ocean, dinosaurs once walked the earth. North America was once covered by glaciers. Seems like the climate has changed in the past to both extremes and without SUVs.

I'm not suprised about this.A few years ago i wrote to Mr Gore requesting his help to save Camp Pouch a section of the Greenbelt preserve in Staten Island.In my letter to Mr Gore I stated that if Camp Pouch was sold;the land would be developed causing increased traffic.This in turn would create more air pollution.I pointed out in my letter that building houses at Pouch would destroy wetlands in the area and of course greatly diminish the flora and fauna of Staten Island.I thought this issue would be a slam dunk for Mr Ecologist Al Gore.Several weeks later I received a letter from Mr Gore's office basically saying that Mr Gore didn't have the time for Pouch Camp!If Camp Pouch is preserved it won't because of MR Gore.

Yes, Gore is not a selfless knight in shining armour, but that doesn't invalidate his concerns about global warming; moral excellence is not a barometer of scientific truth. Of course, Faux News is the world's leading purveyor of accurate information and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, the 38th richest man in America & the 102nd richest man in the world, is the world's leading philanthropist: someone who would never call a kettle "black."

homo sapp,homosapiens,a true easily led sheep like herd animal who will follow any old guff sold to him,especially if it waves a flag and beats a drum and preaches hate through propoganda.Tthats why religion,any old religion will always find a fee paying congregation,men have worshipped everything under the sun at some time including the sun,the green movement was just a new religion(its followers were young idealist,concerned about nature and the enviroment(which is brilliant,so am i and any sensible person)but some of the claims and propoganda,especially concerning aeroplanes ,cars,combustion engines was outrageously distorted,there is a definate and real call for enviromentalists,they are genuinely concerned about pollution but need to be able to seperate truth from fiction and not be so stupidly fanatical as to disregard reason,argument and true science.

I don't know how many liberals are even acknowledging this event. Certainly haven't seen anything in the mainstream media to reflect it. No outcry from them about AG's hypocrisy. I am just waiting to see what the next great humanitarian cause he will get behind that will make him even richer.
