Colin Farrell’s love life certainly has the makings of a book, and wouldn’t you know, one of his exes, British writer and novelist Emma Forrest, has written a memoir that will be published this week.
Titled Your Voice in My Head, in fairness the tome isn’t all about Colin. Forrest, 33, talks extensively about her serious bouts of depression and mental illnesses, but there’s plenty of juicy stuff about Farrell, who she dated for a year back in 2008-’09. She never refers to the Irish star by name, though, instead referring to him as her “gypsy husband.”
They met in LA at a screening of his film In Bruges – Farrell won a Golden Globe in 2009 for his role -- and soon after they fell hard for each other. They texted 50 times a day when he was away working, and Forrest also details how her gypsy husband once sent her one of his worn t-shirts so she wouldn’t forget what he smelled like.
Six months into the relationship Colin wants to make babies, and gets mighty cheesy with his choice of words. “When I get back from this film, let’s have a miniature human that grows,” Forrest writes of his words. “I would rather die than not knock you up.”
Emma is more than happy to oblige, and even picked out a name, Pearl, if they were to have a daughter. But the fairy tale wasn’t to last.
Farrell had to travel again for work commitments, but when he returned home – Forrest writes of being dressed in a burlesque outfit in anticipation of a romantic reunion – Colin stunned her with words that aren’t exactly conducive to having a baby: “I think I need some space.”
Uh oh. Emma tried reaching out with calls and texts, only to be met with an ice cold gypsy in return.
Eventually he stopped replying altogether, and far from dying if he didn’t “knock up” Forrest, a few short months later Farrell announced that his latest lady, Polish actress Alicja Bachleda, was pregnant with his child.
It wasn’t a Pearl, but rather a baby Henry, born in October of 2009. That relationship also went kaput, though, and Farrell, as far as we know, is single – which will undoubtedly be a temporary thing.
Forrest, speaking to the Awl website, says she’s well over her Irish lover and holds no hard feelings. "Colin is one of the most beautiful souls on the face of this planet," she says. "It took a long time, but my heart now feels full when I think of him. When you fall in love again—which I have—it's funny the other things that come back in with that openness. You have this ghost chorus of the lovers who came before, but they're benign now, they're good spirits."
Wonder if her old gypsy husband feels the same way.

I've read the book. Your time-lines a bit off. In May 2008 Colin farrell met Alicja Bachleda-Curus. They were a coulpe from soon after the re-takes on Ondine. He may or may not be GH, but don't twist the facts to make your story spicier. In other words don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. The book has been out in Canada for a while now.
