Javier Mascherano has once again called on Liverpool to sign his Argentine team-mate Carlos Tevez.

Tevez’s future remains in the balance, with Manchester United seemingly unwilling to cough off the mooted £25 million being demanded by the various parties who own the player.

The Argentine looks most likely to remain in The Premier League despite reputed interest from Real Madrid and is being most strongly linked with United rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.

Mascherano and Tevez first arrived in England together when they surprisingly pitched up at Upton Park and The Reds’ midfielder is eager to be reunited with his international colleague.

“I hope we can count on him,” said Mascherano. “Because of the type of player Carlos is, he would be great for us.

“However, it will be a tough fight because so many clubs are interested in him.”
