Ireland are second best as New Zealand run riot in 42-10 Auckland win

The long wait continues – Ireland’s rugby team were completely outclassed by New Zealand in Auckland on Saturday.

Declan Kidney’s team had no answer to the power of the world champions in a 42-10 defeat.

The All-Blacks dominated from start to finish as Ireland’s wait for a first ever win over the Kiwis continued.

Winger Fergus McFadden scored the visitor’s only try early in the second-half but even that was the result of a charge down.

Out-half Jonny Sexton contributed Ireland’s only other points with a conversion and a penalty on a day when they were second best throughout.

Winger Julian Savea scored a hat-trick of tries for the powerful New Zealand side who beat Ireland up in the pack.

Adam Thomson and Conrad Smith also crossed for the World Cup winners with Dan Carter adding 17 points with four conversions and three penalties.

New Zealand will be red hot favorites when the teams meet again in Christchurch next Saturday.
