Cork defeated Down to win their first All-Ireland title in 20 years at Croke Park by 0-16 to 0-15.

Down flew out of the traps and stormed into a 5-point lead, but Cork managed to stay in touch to leave the score at the break 0-8 to 0-5.

In the second half, the men from the south used all their experience to hold off their northern opponents to win by one point.

In doing so, they ended Down's unbeaten record in All-Ireland finals.
