Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly believes wide receiver Michael Floyd has changed

Coach believes that the player had made serious changes to his life following his DUI last year

Notre Dame’s coach Brian Kelly has said that he believes wide receiver Michael Floyd has made some real changes in his life following his DUI last year.

Floyd was fined $200 and ordered to attend a Victim’s Impact Panel, to listen to those who have lost family members due to drunk driving. When he was stopped by police his blood alcohol level was 0.19 percent. This is double Indiana’s legal limit.

Kelly said that he had met with Floyd after the DUI arrest. His coach was not going to accept a simple apology and wanted to look in the player’s eyes.

Speaking on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday Kelly said “It's pretty serious. When you make a decision to get in a car when you're intoxicated, you're flirting with your career.

"There were some things he needed to do. He needed to make some serious life decisions. He did that. I'm thankful he was given that second chance. He had to make a decision on how he was going to live his life first."

The player has a history of run-ins with the law for alcohol consumption. He was cited twice in his hometown of Minnesota for underage drinking in 2009 and 2010.
