Relationship back to par for Irish golfer

Although his sensational downfall at the Masters over the weekend in Augusta may have dominated the headlines pertaining to Rory McIlroy, his love life seems to be back on track after briefly splitting with Holly Sweeney.

The County Down golfer and his childhood sweetheart, who had dated for five years, recently went their separate ways after reports surfaced that McIlroy wanted to focus solely on his game.

There were also rumors that Sweeney was uncomfortable with the limelight that came with being a sport superstar's girlfriend.

According to the Irish Herald however, Sweeney was at the grounds of Augusta to comfort McIlroy as his dreams of winning the Masters fell to shambles.

McIlroy, who topped the leaderboard until the final round, was even cheered on via Twitter by Sweeney who tweeted "well played @McIlroyRory...beautifully done."

Taking to Twitter again on Tuesday Sweeney dispelled any doubt that the two were once again a couple, confirming that she had travelled to Malaysia to accompany McIlroy in the Malaysian Open, stating "in transit to Kuala Lumpar (sic)...didn't bring much to augusta so gotta 1) get a suitcase and 2) fill it!" It seems though that Miss Sweeney won't have much trouble filling that suitcase as the University of Ulster student is a self confessed shoe-aholic.

On top of being a shoe addict Sweeney also seems to be a fervent supporter of McIlroy, tweeting from Augusta on Saturday that she was and "will remain to be the most biased spectator in the world!"

Though McIlroy has a lot of naysayers to prove wrong after his devastating loss, he seems to have landed a hole-in-one with his on-again love who is also undoubtedly his number one fan.
