Robert Pattinson is in the running to play Jeff Buckley in a biopic about the musicians life.

NME has reported that the “Twilight” star is “obsessed” with playing the role of the late folk singer.

Buckley passed away in 1997, before the completion of his second album.  His debut album "Grace" is considered one the finest folk rock albums of the 20th century.

Michelle Sy, the potential producer for the new flick has specified that whoever is cast for the role must be able to sing and play guitar. Robert is a keen musician, with some of his tracks even making the “Twlight” soundtrack, so he would be perfect for the role.

Speaking about Robert playing the potential role, Buckley’s mother, Mary Guibety said "Robert is a fine young actor. I'm flattered he's been linked to this project. When the time comes we'll give everybody an opportunity to be seen and heard".
