The singer shocked his pals by showering them with the fizzy alcoholic drink after they arrived inside London's Funky Buddha nightclub for the bash, which was held this weekend, although Liam's birthday is not until tomorrow (29.08.12).

The party had been organised by the star's One Direction bandmates and his dancer girlfriend, Danielle Peazer, who invited all his friends to London, and arranged an intricate Batman cake for the event.

She tweeted: "What a day!!! So grateful to everyone that helped make Liam's surprise party possible (sic).

"A few obstacles, but Sunday was such a perfect day in the end. It was very stressful but so worth it :) xx (sic)"

Liam's band mates Harry Styles and Niall Horan joined him at the party, although the latter had some trouble getting in after bouncers didn't recognise him at the door and had to call the club manager to verify his identity.

Liam was pleased with the effort everybody made for his birthday, later tweeting: "Can't believe today Danielle arranged me a surprise party had all my friends down what a great day."
