A young Irish man who was soon to enlist in the U.S. army has died following a single car collision in Florida.

Patrick John Lynch, 20, died at the scene of the incident, local police reported. Born in Strasburg, PA, he lived in Donegal during his early years. The young man emigrated with his parents Paul and Eileen to Florida 10 years ago.

The 20-year-old was studying to become a barber and was soon to enlist in the U.S Army, his obituary states.

The fatal crash occurred on Monday July 29, in Hudson, on the west coast of Florida, north of Tampa.
Lynch died when his Nissan 350Z sports car left Cortez Boulevard at 3.45am. The sports car struck a road sign, an electric pole and a tree.

State troopers told BayNews9 that Lynch, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and died at the scene, troopers said.

The dead man's remains are being returned to his home town for burial in St. Mary’s Church, Convoy Co. Donegal this Friday.

He is survived by his parents Paul and Eileen and sisters Chasmin Snyder and Katelyn Lynch.
