Police fear for the life of a young German woman who may have travelled to Ireland to take her own life.

Dozens of rescue volunteers and police are searching for the missing woman who hasn’t been seen or heard of in 10 days.

Stephanie Glosse, a 22-year-old student, hasn’t made any contact with her family since she arrived at Dublin Airport almost a fortnight ago.

Friends in Germany have told police there that she had discussed suicide with others on a social networking site.

The world famous Cliffs of Moher in County Clare were mentioned in her postings.

Rangers and police there are on high alert for the student who travelled to Ireland on her own.

A German Embassy spokesman in Dublin said: “We are aware of this case and are assisting the authorities in any way we can.”

A police spokesman added: “We would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
