A Belfast teenager’s burglary attempt was botched when his hand became lodged inside a letterbox. He has since been arrested under suspicion of theft.

The Irish Independent reports that a policeman who was on patrol at 4 in the morning on Thursday in Margaretta Crescent, Dunmurry in Belfast spotted the 17 year old whose hand was stuck in the letterbox. The letterbox had to be removed from the door by fire crews, and the boy was taken to the police station with it still on his hand.

The teen, who is being questioned for a number of offenses, was taken into custody of the police and had the letterbox removed from his hand. Police are currently investigating a string of other thefts, including a burglarized car, in the area.
