Colleen Shannon, a former Playboy centerfold model, has pled guilty to charges that she helped smuggle her Canadian boyfriend Robert Skojo into the US through upstate New York.

CBS News reports that on Tuesday, June 18, Shannon pled guilty to aiding an illegal immigrant. Skojo had entered the U.S. illegally through the Akwesasne Mohawk Indian Reservation in upstate New York in August 2012.

Court papers said that U.S. Border Patrol agents stopped Shannon on August 15 last year at the Massena point of entry, where she'd driven alone in Skojo's 2005 Bentley. Shannon declared that she had $9,800 in cash with her, which she said was from her job as a DJ. She could not provide proof that Skojo had given permission to drive his car.

Though the U.S. Border Patrol agents let Shannon continue after she said she was headed for New York City for an acting gig, they followed her to a hotel in Fort Covington, NY, near the border of the Indian reservation. They watched as Skojo met her there that night, papers said.

The next morning, both of them were arrested.

Shannon told agents she shouldn’t be arrested because she didn’t help Skojo across the border, she only picked him up from the New York hotel.

Skojo had been barred from entering the U.S. due to his criminal record in Canada. In both 1996 and 1999, he was convicted of drug charges in Canada. In 1990, he was also convicted of "procuring sexual services" and "living on the avails of prostitution,” court papers said.

Skojo was jailed in November for six months for entering the U.S. illegally, and was deported back to Canada at the end of his sentence.

If Shannon gets credit for accepting responsibility, she'll face zero to six months in jail when U.S. District Judge Norman Mordue sentences her on Oct. 22. Without that credit, she could face between 4 and 10 months behind bars.

Shannon and Skojo first met in 2011 when Shannon was DJ’ing at a party hosted by Skojo. The Playmate was featured as the centerfold of Playboy’s 50th anniversary issue in 2004, but now works as, what she calls, ‘the world’s sexiest DJ.’
