A new series is coming to NBC this fall with Ireland’s Jonathan Rhys Meyers taking the lead role.
Rhys Meyers, who won a Golden Globe for best actor for his depiction of Elvis Presley in the TV mini series, “Elvis,” is best known for his performance in Showtime’s successful TV series, “The Tudors.”
This fall, the Irish actor will transform into Dracula for a twisted version of the classic novel.
According to NBC’s description of the show, Rhys Meyers will arrive in London, “posing as an American entrepreneur (Alexander Grayson) who wants to bring modern science to Victorian society.” Unknown to those who he encounters, his true purpose for being in London is to “take revenge on those who cursed him with immortality centuries earlier.”
Dracula pairs up with Van Helsing in an interesting plot to revenge the “Order of the Dragon” that corrupted him many years ago.
But when Alexander Grayson (Rhys Meyers) becomes enamored with a young woman identical to his late wife, his meticulous plan is put in jeopardy.
The series was developed by Gareth Neame, the executive producer of “Downton Abbey” and will be directed by Steve Shill, the director of “The Tudors.”
The 10-part series is currently being filmed in Budapest and you can expect to see it on NBC on October 25th, just in time for Halloween.
