In an auction dubbed "the night that changed their lives" a photo of U2 from their younger days, and photos from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin will be up for grabs at Bonhams' Entertainment Memorabilia auction in London on June 23.

Bonhams have gotten their hands on 13 black and white pictures of U2 that will no doubt receive mega bucks at the auction.

They are estimated at £10,000-15,000 and are to be sold with copyright.

According to the auction house, some of the pictures are of the band offstage while the others are while they are performing in 1978.

"It is very exciting to be able to offer such a variety of unseen images, taken on what proved to be such a pivotal night in their early career," said Stephanie Connell of Bonhams Entertainment Memorabilia Department.

U2 - then known as The Hype- got their break by winning a competition in Limerick on St. Patrick's Day 1978.

It was that night they changed their name to U2.

They won £500 and studio time to record a demo which was heard by CBS Ireland. Drummer Larry Mullen is quoted as saying, "We had no real idea how winning in Limerick would change our lives."

Little did he know then eh!
