Shannen Doherty, the star made famous by Beverly Hills 90120 and Charmed, has impressed a new legion of fans after audio from a cross-country 911 call she to a New Jersey emergency dispatcher hot the web on Sunday, showing Doherty's concern for a suicidal fan.

'This is going to sound incredibly strange cause it does to me as well,' Doherty told the operator. 'My name is Shannon Doherty and I'm an actress and there is a girl who is threatening to shoot herself.'

According to the New York Daily News Doherty, who lives in Los Angeles, called 911 after an unnamed fan sent several disturbing messages to the actress on Twitter saying that she would kill herself if she didn't get a phone call from her idol.

It emerged that the 27-year-old fan really had access to a gun.

'I'm completely untrained to deal with somebody threatening suicide,' Doherty told the 911 operator. 'It's been an undoing thing and my security guys told me to block her, because she's aggressive and does very erratic things. I felt bad for her to be honest.'

But acting on the operators advice, Doherty reportedly tweeted the fan and received her Westampton, New Jersey address.

'I would love it if you guys would just call back and let me know,' Doherty began before the operator asked her to stay on the phone in case the police needed her to talk to the woman.

'All my coworkers can't believe I'm on the phone with,' gushed the dispatcher. 'Tell them hi, and tell them thank you,' Doherty said laughing near the end of the call.
