A trainee hairdresser used her car to help criminals escape from burglaries along the Irish border, a Donegal court has heard.
Nicole Gibson, 20, operated a text-a-getaway driver service for burglars who needed a clean escape.
Gibson, from Raphoe, Co Donegal, appeared before Letterkenny District Court, the Irish Mirror reports.
Garda Eoin Waters told the court the young woman faced three different charges relating to a break in at a school and two private homes in February of last year.
"She would be at home and would get a text message to pick people up," Garda Waters explained.
An accomplice in a school robbery, she hooked up a trailer to her car to transport stolen garden equipment, including a Kawasaki quad.
The court heard Gibson used her car to pick up criminals on two other occasions in Manorcunningham and St Johnston, when they stole thousands of euro worth of copper from building sites.
Police said $4,337 (3,300 euros) worth of copper was stolen in the incidents and $920 (700 euros) worth of damage was done to the properties.
"The copper was sold to a scrapyard in Derry," Garda Waters said.
The public helped identify Gibson’s car, which was seen in the areas around the time of the robberies. When Gibson was questioned, she admitted her role in the crime.
Michael Devlin, a 20-year-old living in Derry, also appeared in court. He admitted to being involved in one of the copper thefts.
Judge Paul Kelly described the incidents as "extremely serious". He requested probation reports be carried out and presented to the court in October. Neither of the accused had any previous convictions.
